Public Involvement

The Design Change and Right-of-Way Re-evaluation process provides opportunities for you to view information about the project and to comment on the proposed improvements. Public involvement activities will continue throughout the duration of the project. Call, write or email us to get involved!

FDOT staff are available for meetings with public officials and local civic organizations. These meetings will provide information on the project status, design concepts, and other study considerations. They also will provide an opportunity for those who have a stake or an interest in the proposed project to comment on the study’s findings.

Design Change and Right-of-Way Re-evaluation Public Hearing

A Public Hearing was held Tuesday, September 24, 2019, at First Baptist Church of St. Petersburg, 1900 Gandy Boulevard N, St. Petersburg, FL 33702. The hearing provided information about the Preferred Build Alternative and allowed residents, business owners, tenants, and those interested to comment and express views concerning the location, conceptual design, and social, economic, and environmental effects of the proposed project. The hearing included an open house that began at 5:30 pm. The formal portion began at approximately 6:30 pm where FDOT representatives made a formal presentation on the proposed improvements and were available to speak with attendees, take comments and answer questions. The public was given the opportunity to provide comment in writing or by mail, verbally at the microphone during the formal presentation, or verbally to the court reporter.

One hundred and forty one (141) members of the public signed in at the public hearing. Fifteen (15) comments were written at the hearing, 11 were orally received at hearing and 43 additional comments were received by mail, email, and through the website during the official comment period which ended October 4, 2019. A transcript of the public hearing is provided in the Comments and Coordination Report, available on the project website.
